The Conference is sponsored by Elsevier and its results will be published in a 2009 special issue of Polyhedron. Papers will be considered for all talks and posters.
It is anticipated that there will be two types of papers: shorter ones of length 4-5 printed pages (Communications), and longer ones of length 6-12 printed pages (Full Paper). As a general guide, papers based on posters and contributed talks could be of either length, but papers based on invited talks should be of the longer variety, either as original full papers or short reviews. For Instructions to Authors, consult the journal website at http://www.elsevier.com/locate/poly or see published issues of the journal.
Authors of shorter papers containing original work in previous ICMM Proceedings have subsequently also published full papers of the work at a later date. If you also plan to do this, you should ensure that your manuscript is written in Communication style. There are cases where referees of subsequent full papers have recommended rejection of the paper because the material had already been published in the ICMM Proceedings. The Special Issue “Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Molecule-based Magnets (ICMM 2006)” can be found at Polyhedron, 2007, Volume 26, Issues 9-11, pages 1763-2386.
Authors wishing to submit one or more manuscripts for the Special Issue should follow the steps below:
1) Bring two hardcopies of each manuscript to the meeting for on-site refereeing. Submit them to the Polyhedron desk, where each manuscript will be assigned a submission code.
2) The manuscripts will be given to conference attendees for refereeing. Check the announcement board to see if you have been assigned papers to referee.
3) When the referee’s comments have been received, they will be forwarded to the authors – check the announcement board. If the referee comments are not received until after the conference, they will be faxed or emailed to the authors.
4) Revised manuscripts must be submitted ONLINE to the Editor, George Christou, via http://ees.elsevier.com/poly . Choose “Special Issue Paper” for the Article Type question on the first step of the submission process.
The online submissions should be accompanied by a Graphical Abstract (a few lines of text and a clear figure) for the Table of Contents.
Important: your cover letter must indicate the paper’s submission code. This is essential, so we know the paper is a revised one, and not a new submission.
5) If you wish to submit your original manuscript after the conference instead of on-site, you should submit it online at the above website, making sure it is indicated in the cover letter as intended for the ICMM Special Issue.
NOTE: in order to ensure timely publication of the Special Issue, there will once again be a deadline for submission of all new papers that are not submitted at the conference. If you want your paper to be included in the Special Issue, it must be submitted online by October 31st. This will be a firm deadline in order to allow publication of the proceedings as quickly as possible.
